Intervention

I may need an intervention.

I spend abnormal amounts of time on Snapfish.

I order prints for Jayden's birth mother every month and every single time I go crazy. It's so hard to narrow down which ones to make prints of. I keep thinking I am going to work on Jayden's scrapbook so I might as well get the prints for it now. So every month I order a lot of prints. So many prints that if I used them all, he would have 19 filled scrapbooks and he is only 4 months old.

I realized that the only way for the prints to come out good is to crop and lighten them on the snapfish website, which takes hours. It's worth it though because I tried prints at many places with some horrible results. They were so bad at Walmart that my Mom brought them a picture of what Jayden really looks like and they refunded all my money. I was beginning to consider going back to film and making a dark room in our basement.

After Halloween I ordered a magnet of Jayden in his Halloween costume. Adorable. Of course my parents needed one for their fridge too.

I spent a full week working on our Christmas card. Trying different card formats, changing which pictures I used, cropping the pictures in different ways...days and days of playing around with one Christmas card.

Then I decided to make a photo book for my parents to give to them as a Christmas present. I had a coupon code that was going to expire so I spent 5 hours in one day working on the book. Which I acknowledge is insane. (But in my defense, they loved it.)

When I got an e-mail with a coupon code for Valentine's Day cards, how could I resist? I immediately started thinking about how I could dress him in his red cloth diaper and it would make for a cute card. (I sent them out last week and I LOVE THEM.) He's only a baby once, right?

Adam pointed out that Jayden has already been photographed more in 4 months than Adam has been his entire life. I think he's probably right. He has very few pictures from his childhood. I, on the other hand, grew up with a photographer as a father. And Jayden has a photographer Grandfather. And an Aunt and Uncle who love photography. And then there is me who wants to remember every minute with this baby. So, yes, he may be the most photographed baby on the planet.

I don't have plans to stop anytime soon. You can't make me. :P

(I wonder how Jayden would look on a mug.....)

  1. We're the same way. Maybe adoption magnifies that need to document. Our poor daughter is going to end up with a complex from being photographed so often! :D

  3. I see zero reason for an intervention :). As a mom to an almost 4 year old, my husband and I still look back fondly on the thousands of pictures we have of our son from infancy. Now I can't even get my son to let me snap a photo where he is actually looking my way! Enjoy and immerse.

Also, I saw a clip on The Today Show on photo books and decided to order one through http://www.ritzpix.com/todaybook for my husband for Valentine's Day. It is hands down a cool photo book making site. Hundreds of backgrounds and clip art and borders and opportunities to make a truly special and unique gift. Thumbs up (and my husband is going to love it).

  5. I have done the same thing. I also will go back and forth between Snapfish and Shutterfly. I have set up different accounts with different email addresses to get different deals at different times. That is totally psycho, because then I forget which "me" ordered from where, and from which account.

  6. I am still more than happy to host this intervention, however it seems as though I am easily bribed by pictures of cute babies. Conflict of interest, perhaps?

  7. Jayden is sooo cute! I can't imagine NOT having a million pictures of him. And I can't help you with the intervention anyway, you already know I have crazy photo issues too lol.

BTW I have an award for you on my blog! http://bit.ly/g22nbE
