Wake Me When It's Fall

I hate the summer.

I know, most people think I am crazy.

I have never liked hot weather. I would rather it be 20 degrees than 90.

The only thing I like about summer is swimming. I love water. We don't have a pool though. Or live by an ocean. Once or twice in the summer we spend the money to go to a water park for the day. We mostly spend time in the wave pool and the lazy river. I love them both.

Other than that, I really hate summertime.

My work schedule stinks. I work 11-12 hours a day for less money than I make during the school-year.

My allergies are bad.

I'm always hot. (I am assuming this will only be made worse by hot flashes this year?)

My parents are going away for two weeks. We have to take care of their cats, get their mail, water all their plants, mow their lawn, etc, etc. Plus, I am completely anxiety ridden when they travel. I don't know why. It's always been like that for me. Even growing up I had bad anxiety when my mom would go somewhere that I knew I wouldn't be able to reach her if I needed her.

We have a family reunion July 17th that I am already dreading.

And the biggest reason summer sucks.....

It is homestudy renewal time. AGAIN.

(We still haven't sent the check in to start the renewal process. Probably because we have no idea where the money will come from.)

So, really, I would like to just go to sleep and someone can wake me up when this summer of hell is over with.

For now I am going to daydream of the Fall.

Adam and I LOVE the Fall.

Here are some pictures that make me very happy:

Oooo....the scary pumpkin room....eeek

The apple mill we go to every weekend in the Fall.

Just a part of our Halloween village

We have a Fall party every year and I made these gravestone cupcakes for each guest one year.

  1. Yes, yes, yes!!! I am an extreme heat-hater myself. I LOVE spring and fall. Summer is so horrid, especially when it gets over about 75°. A doctor once told me it was because of my PCOS. I said, "oh, what's the treatment for it?" Her reply? "Buy a hat." Ummm... thanks!

Good to know I'm not alone! Hope the warm weather passes quickly for you!

  2. I love the fall too! I do like summer, but it gets too hot here, it was 111 today! Loved the gravestone cupcakes! I might steal that idea for this fall. :) Amber I've heard that before about the pcos makes you extra hot. what dumb advice! lol

  3. That pumpkin cake is absolutely ADORABLE!!!! Do you still have the recipe?

  4. I used a bundt pan to cook the cake. The cake flavor was either spice or pumpkin and I think I made a double batch. I cooked half the batter in the bundt pan, washed the pan, and then cooked the other half in the bundt pan. Then trimmed them so there was a flat bottom to each one, put frosting on the flat sides, and put them together. It ends up being pumpkin shaped. Then I made orange frosting. I remember getting the color right was a PITA. I used a star tip on a piping bag and just did a million little stars all around it. I used a ho ho as the stem!

  5. I hate summer too, would much rather be cold than hot and I BURN so easily - plus I'm a skin cancer survivor, so I have to be really careful about the sun.

Loved the picture of the elephant with the pumpkin!

I think you should skip the family reunion if it will cause you stress...you deserve a break.

  6. I join you in your dislike of Summer! By the time it's February I am STOKED for some warmer weather but MOSTLY I'm stoked because that means I'm this much closer to HALLOWEEN and AUTUMN!!! My absolute favorite season BY FAR.

I hope this Summer season flies by for you OR that this Summer season brings you something that makes you look back on Summer days with joy and fondness.

  8. I am so with you on disliking summer. It gets so stinkin' HOT here! And last year was almost record breaking heat of triple digits from May through Sept. I almost packed and moved...swimming is about all you can do here in summer.
Fall is definitely my FAV season. Especially when it actually feels like Fall! I have a dream someday we will live where it's cooler...with 4 actual seasons! Until then, I guess I'll buy a hat since my PCOS definitely seems to make the heat worse....really? A hat?! There must be better advice...;)

  16. Isn't fall divine? I loved the pictures!

  17. If I could laze all day in a pool I would love summer where I live (Alabama). But I can't, so I hate it. This week it has been in the high 90s. Awful when you work at a corporate office of a bank and have to dress up every day. Can't wait for fall.

  21. Fall is my favorite season. I love the cooler, crisp air. I love the changing leaves (though we don't get much of that in Florida). I love football, the fall holidays, etc. Thank you for sharing those pictures. Now I wish fall would get here a little bit faster!

  22. I agree that the fall is a great time of the year. I like when it is still warm enough before the snow but not hot & humid like the summer!

Thank you for stopping by my blog early! It is great to meet you and see pictures too!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  23. I love the fall too, although in Florida we don't get much of it. That cider mill looks like one in Ohio that I've visited. I made caramel apples last week just for the heck of it!

  25. I like summer because I discovered the pleasure of swimming in a lake two years gao. But besides that and summer schedule at work, I think summer basically sucks ! I try to enjoy it anyway. lol I love fall and winter. I sure didn't expect to see Halloween pictures today !

I read your other post as well and I think it's so good for you two what Adam has realized.

Hang in there ! Fall is coming in 2-3 months. :)

  27. I love the summer but I definitely understand your reasons for not liking it *hugs* I've been thinking....what about doing some sort of fundraiser to help y'all get the money for adoption? I know that you have the button on your blog BUT I know that I have some FB friends that sell coffee or something like that through the internet. I love you and I just want to help in any way possible <3

  31. Summer for us means lots of work...like this past weekend was the last day off until the end of August...now we'll pretty much have something (most of the time work) happening every weekend. We love fall...it's our favorite time of year...probably because we're less busy.

I hear ya on the heat, hate it!

  32. I LOVE the summer, but the fall is a particularly special time for me. I love it more probably because I live in L.A. and we don't get the change of seasons the way you do. Fall means special homey outings and holiday prep. There's just a different feeling in the air. I'm jealous that you go to the apple mill every weekend!! Don't worry, it'll be here before you know it. ")

p.s. Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  33. I'm not a fan of the heat myself. I don't mind the 80s, but once the temperatures get into the 90s I just get uncomfortable and grouchy. I have MS and it seems to bring out the annoying little symptons and I get a headache (I've taken Tylenol everyday this week, but they won't sell Tylenol anymore because of the recall...grrrr). I'm sorry you've had another hope that didn't work out.

  34. OMG, too funny! You're right, we wrote almost the exact same blog post!!!! and Fall is MY favorite season too!

    I guess we're two of a kind!

I'm gonna add your blog to follow, and you should do the same!

  35. I also am not a fan of summer. I hate being hot. It is so humind where I live. Plus I burn easily and am always worried about sun exposure. Sorry things are tough right now.

  36. I used to hate summer, but now I've made my peace with it, and even like it a little. Give it a chance, there are some plus sides! ;)

Love the pumpkin pics!! I /so/ cannot wait for Halloween to get here, though I wish I could push my birthday farther away (it's a week before Halloween).
